Congress of the International Seed Testing Association
From 16 to 22 June 2010 members of the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) met for their 29th Congress. The congress was hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) in cooperation with the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
About 800 government representatives and experts from the seed industry from all over the world discussed current questions about seed testing in the "Gürzenich" Congress Centre in Cologne. The programme featured the annual ISTA meeting as well as sessions of a number of working groups. The social programme included some field trips.
The BMELV Policy Forum was held on 21 June 2010 during the ISTA Congress. This Forum offered our guests from politics, science and industry a joint platform from which to discuss the importance of harmonised seed testing for the international seed trade of the 21th century.
