Research into current food-science issues is carried out by a number of institutions - such as the Max Rubner Institute, the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE), the Research Institute of Child Nutrition and university research bodies. The BMELV uses the research results provided by these institutions as a basis for developing its food policy.
