Scientific Advisory Boards

An advisory board is a standing body that acts in an advisory capacity. The BMELV currently has four scientific advisory boards to evaluate research results and advise decision-makers.

The Scientific Advisory Board on Agricultural Policy at the BMELV

The Scientific Advisory Board supports the BMELV in the further development of agricultural policy. It is an independent, interdisciplinary body working in an honorary capacity and drawing up scientific opinions and statements.

The Scientific Advisory Board on Consumer and Food Policies at the BMELV

The Scientific Advisory Board was appointed for the first time in September 2002. The appointment period is three years; in September 2008 the board has been appointed for the third appointment period. The Advisory Board is an interdisciplinary body which is to assist in further developing consumer policies.

The Scientific Advisory Board on Fertiliser Issues at the BMELV

The Scientific Advisory Board advises the Federal Ministry in fertiliser issues by providing expert opinions. Its members are appointed by the Federal Ministry on the basis of the Fertiliser Act.
