Heinen-Esser: Demonstration of German-Indian cooperation
“Given the growing business interests of German and Indian food businesses, the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV), the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Indian Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) have, for the first time, organised a joint event at ANUGA. This demonstrates the good and close German-Indian cooperation" said Ursula Heinen-Esser, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.
She – together with the Indian State Secretary at the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Ashok Sinha, representing the Indian Minister – opened the “Flavours of Incredible India“ event at ANUGA in Cologne today.
ParliamentaryStateSecretary Heinen-Esser and the Indian State Secretary Ashok Sinha agreed yesterday to expand the close and trusting cooperation in the food sector. This was recorded in the protocol of the meeting. “Yesterday’s signing of the protocol on cooperation between the BMELV and the Ministry of Food-Processing Industries built on our long-standing relations and also broadened the foundations that underpin these relations“, said Heinen-Esser.“Today’s event represented us putting this protocol into immediate and practical action“.
The objective of this event was to promote foreign trade relations between the two countries and to provide a forum for an intensive exchange of opinions, experiences and information. Participants at this event included German and Indian decision-makers from politics and the business community, and in particular from of global food businesses in the German and Indian food industry.
India is an important emerging country in South East Asia and one of the strongest and fastest-growing economies in the world. Like Germany, India benefits from the globalisation of international markets due to the increasing focus of its economy on exports. Both economies face great challenges owing to numerous changes in the structure of the markets. This is illustrated by the constantly growing and changing range of products on offer on the Indian market.
